A rumor on the Poltergeist remake and news on Star Trek 3

So for those of you not in the know, the beloved 80’s classic ghost/haunting film POLTERGEIST is indeed getting a remake. BOO HISS – I am sure is the general reaction.

Well the film is set to be directed by MONSTER HOUSE’s Gil Kenan with a screenplay by David Lindsay-Abaire. Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert are producing through Ghost House Pictures (whose track record isn’t the best, let’s be honest).

The big news is that none other than Sam Rockwell is in talks to take the role of the father. For those of you playing at home that would be the role that Craig T. Neilson played in the original. The film has already cast Rosemary DeWitt as the mother character. This might actually become interesting if Rockwell is cast, considering he’s a great actor that always bring 110% to his work.

In other news, the third STAR TREK film will be written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci who are returning. Damon Lindeloff will not be however, whether or not it will just be those on will remain to be seen.

This squashes the rumor that a new writing team would be coming on board, and it seems they want to keep with what they know. How will the loss of Lindeloff affect the final product, well let’s hope this film will be good!

There is no confirmed release date for the film as of yet, it is like to be 2015/2016 and the cast are expected to all return. We shall keep you all updated on the progress as news breaks.
