Australia’s MONSTER PICTURES announces first-quarter acquisitions THE GREASY STRANGLER and more
Monster Pictures, genre label and producers of Australia’s premier cult film festival Monster Fest (set for November 24-27, 2016) have been busy in the first quarter of 2016, with a diverse slate of acquisitions with all rights for the ANZ Market.
Recent acquisitions include Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ acclaimed SUNTAN (Berlin, Rotterdam, SXSW 2016), Jim Hosking’s gross-out midnight hit THE GREASY STRANGLER (Sundance, SXSW 2016), Danny Perez’ transgressive body-horror ANTIBIRTH (Sundance 2016) starring Natasha Lyonne and Chloe Sevigny, Steve Oram’s odd and wonderful horror-comedy AAAAAAAAH! (FrightFest 2015), featuring a slew of familiar faces from British comedy television (including Julian Barrett and Noel Fielding of THE MIGHTY BOOSH), and first-time filmmaker Jai Love’s disturbing documentary about reclusive Kettle Cadaver frontman Edwin Borsheim, DEAD HANDS DIG DEEP (Slamdance 2016).
THE GREASY STRANGLER and AAAAAAAAH! will both be making their Australian debut at Tasmania’s DARK MOFO (June 10-21, 2016), the annual winter festival mounted by the world-famous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). (Get GREASY STRANGLER tix HERE and AAAAAAAAH! tix HERE)
