DON’T BREATHE
A trio of reckless thieves break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist, they’re wrong. Co-produced by Sam Raimi and his production company, Ghost House, this is the latest feature from 2013’s EVIL DEAD writer/director Fede Alvarez and it shot to the number one spot at the US box office last weekend, taking more than USD$28 million.
BLOOD FATHER
After her drug kingpin boyfriend frames her for stealing a fortune in cartel cash, 17 year old LYDIA goes on the run, with only one ally in this whole wide world: her perennial screw-up of a dad, JOHN LINK, who’s been a motorcycle outlaw, and a convict in his time, and now is determined to keep his little girl from harm and, for once in his life, do the right thing.

Industrious high school senior, Vee Delmonico, has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. Arthur Bishop returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.

There’s something going on behind the white picket fences of Lumberton, North Carolina. And after stumbling upon a severed human ear in a field, mystery-loving college student Jeffrey Beaumont is determined to find out what. Teaming up with the daughter of a local police detective, Jeffrey’s investigation leads him into a strange world of sensuality and violence, with the intrigue of the missing ear seemingly stemming from the relationship between a troubled nightclub singer and a sociopathic sadomasochist. BLUE VELVET plays The Astor Theatre in Melbourne for four sessions across Friday 2nd & Saturday the 3rd of September and at Lido Cinemas from Sunday 4th to Wednesday the 7th of September in a newly struck 2K transfer for its 30th anniversary.

For early adopters, a 4K Ultra HD is scheduled for a belated October 5th release locally.
