Monster Fest Second Wave Announcement
Hey there Monsterfiends, so you’ve just managed to haul yourself off the mat after the news that Butch ‘Eddie Munster’ Patrick, Fred ‘The Hammer’ Williamson and Dee ‘The Howling’ Wallace were on their way to Melbourne for Monster Fest, well dear friends, it gives us great pleasure to tell you that you ‘aint heard nothing yet – read on and weep…!
First off its time to get your Eli Roth slashy-groove-like thing on with our Official Closing Night Film… none other than KNOCK KNOCK starring Keanu (don’t stop the bus) Reeves! Eli Roth has pretty much stamped himself as the King of horror in recent years and with the scares and sex turned up to overdrive, KNOCK KNOCK is gonna rock your socks off! If a night of Rothian sex and mayhem isn’t quite enough to stem your ‘Monster Fest is over’ tears on closing night, you’ll be able to drown your sorrows at the Closing Night Party, hosted by Queen of the Crypt, Cherry Bites and featuring Melbourne’s coolest rockers, ‘The Tarantinos’!
Monster Fest would not be Monster Fest without a feast of cool new Aussie horror and in 2015 the gems keep on coming! You know already about the World Premiere of the Cairns Brothers SCARE CAMPAIGN on Opening Night, but now we’re throwing into the mix some Wild West zombie apocalypse madness with BULLETS FOR THE DEAD, some twisted dead feline love with CAT SICK BLUES and an all-new Aussie alien invasion extravaganza, the hilarious AUSTRALIENS – these films prove that Australian genre cinema is alive and well and are exactly the kinds of films that Monster Fest was created to showcase.
The Aussie love keeps on coming with a ‘Trasharama’ special presentation of 80s cult classic SMOKE ‘EM IF YOU’VE GOT ‘EM, and an ‘Australian Masterpiece’ 10th Anniversary screening of Greg McLean’s incredible WOLF CREEK. Cast and crew will be present for both screenings, so not only will you get to see Mick Taylor on the big screen gutting the innocent, you’ll also get to meet him in person – BUYER BEWARE!
You might think we’re sick and twisted with scant regard for human decency, and you might well be right, but please let it be known that as messed up as we are, deep down we’re nice (no… really we are), and to prove it we’re catering to the kiddies with a special ‘Breakfast with Dee’ screening of Steven Spielberg’s award winning E.T. – hosted by none other than screen icon Dee Wallace, this is a bit of a treat for the kiddies, or at least for the adults who act like kiddies!
There’s plenty more still to be announced for Monster Fest 2015, but that’s all you’re getting for now… Remember people tickets are CHEAP AS CHIPS so head over to our ticketing page and grab ‘em before they disappear!
Monster Fest 2015 is being held November 26-29 at The Lido Cinemas, Hawthorn.
