Monster Fest is hosting a number of premieres, a reason to celebrate and get your ass in on the action! Monster Fest starts next week, if you can believe that! We certainly can’t believe it is right upon us, whoa!!!

This film is a modern ozploitation flick, and director Duncan Cunningham is a guest of the festival! He’ll introduce the film and provide an awesome Q & A after the screening.
I am sure there are those of you who know about Oz Horror Con, the good folks put on a really fun Horror Convention earlier this year (with Monster Pictures having a stall naturally) and they are keeping up with the events.
Back in August they hosted a screening of NIGHTBREED the Cabal Cut, and they have another screening scheduled for January, featuring more Clive Barker goodness.

We here at Monster pride ourselves on bringing you fiends interesting and clever films from the genre we all love. No budget? No problem! It doesn’t need to be an issue unless someone makes it one.
So let us introduce you two the micro-budget zombie flick THE BATTERY, shot over two weeks with a six person crew, with $6000 in tow, this film has been making quite the buzz. And so it should, its a unique film with a top script and dammit we want you the people … sorry fiends, to see it!
In the last few hours, it’s just been announced that a new horror anthology, XX, is being put in production by MPI/Dark Sky Films and XYZ Films. Why the name XX? Well, each film will be directed by a female director and have a female lead.
Producer Todd Brown (The Raid: Redemption) had this to say: “One of the givens of so many horror films has been the objectification of young women, and we thought it was time for a different approach to scaring audiences and letting the female voice be heard.”
So what 90’s creature features are coming back in the form of a VS film?
Oh just ANACONDA and LAKE PLACID, in LAKE PLACID VS. ANACONDA!
I am not kidding folks, STYD got the info for this epic film. We have no plot details, perhaps the lake invades the anacondas? Meh who cares, this is going to be a must see!
We do know that this will actually begin shooting some time soon, so it has the green light to go ahead.
We know you all loved the fucked up, and one of the films showing at Monster Fest does fit that bill … wait don’t they all?
CONTRACTED is a bit different, this is a strange type of body horror, it’s psychological, it’s gross, it’ll make you squirm and you’ll think twice before heading off to sex a stranger.

Jim Jarmusch isn’t a name you’d normally associate with the vampire genre, but the name has now dipped his feet into the pool and has come back with ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE.
The film has finally received a trailer that the masses can have a look at, and it is as weird as you’d expect. perhaps even more so.
