Due to unforeseen circumstances, THE GREEN INFERNO has been removed from the Monster Fest 2014 schedule. Instead, the festival will bring local audiences US horror-comedy, ZOMBEAVERS. Ticketholders for THE GREEN INFERNO will be contacted by Cinema Nova staff and offered a refund, as well as a bonus ticket to another Monster Fest session of their choice (excluding opening and closing night events).
ZOMBEAVERS is an action packed and hilarious film about three college girls who go on a carefree vacation filled with drinking games and sexual exploration. Their frolicking fun comes to an abrupt end when they’re attacked by toxic-zombie-beavers.[…]
Hey Freakers, the PROGRAM from last year HAS FINALLY BEEN JUDGED, JURIED AND EXECUTED!! A BIG THANX to all the valued JUDGE Freakers who GREATLY assisted by sharing me their favs. Your identities will remain safe with me. UNLESS, I am indeed tortured or even have a beer bought for me. I will no doubt sing like a canary. I AIN’T squealing like a pig FOR ANYONE!
Apologies for taking so long but this first year back was a rollercoaster. But a BABY in a rollercoaster! Remember how hard it was for babies last year?? It should all be […]
Most folk in inner-city Australiana have a Chopper Read story, and now the man is no longer with us, you’ll get to hear most of ’em. Here’s mine:
I was a guest at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival in 2003, the year my film Lesbo-A-Go-Go screened. In addition I was roped into Emcee duties for the Opening and Closing Night ceremonies; MUFF Direktor Richard Wolstencroft, in his inimitable fashion, had made our old Uncle Chop-Chop head of the Jury.
Final night of the Festival, it was my duty to introduce Chopper to a packed Palace Cinema audience primarily of MUFF […]
I know, I know… I’ve been negligent keeping up with my blog here at Monster Pictures. The thing is, this summer has been a crusher of a work season. It seems not a day goes by that I don’t get a call or an email asking me to write this or to join that production. Neil, our boss at Monster Pics, keeps telling me to do short order writing for the blog, but I’ve always been more into the epic entry variety.
Working on films in Japan has been one of the great joys in my life. Although the budgets […]
Hey Freakers, the weathers nice here in Murder City Adelaide so I thought I’d touch base with you all. Sun, birds singing, children laughing, everyone happy! Spring weather is shit when you’ve been trying to write a nasty, seedy movie of insanity and depravity, filthy, stench and blood. I must wait for the night to fall to retreat into my characters soiled brains and continue…
First of all, THANX FREAKNICKS!! Those of you who have sent in your sordid short disasterpieces. KEEP EM COMING!! We’ve got films from the UK and US too so good to see word spreading like […]
Wait, what’s SUFF? Uhh just the Sydney Underground Film Festival! Yeah Sydney-siders, that film festival is back!
The dates and program have been announced, and it is looking like a damn fine time to be in Sydney.
As the banner above says the festival will run from Thursday Sept 5th to Sunday Sept 8th at the Factory Theatre.
Opening Night looks like it’ll be a blast with the doors opening at 6pm, the opening film is at 7:30pm with THE DANCE OF REALITY and then following the film a performance by Betty Grumble, it’ll be open till midnight.
Hi all you crazy ‘Monster Fiends’! My name is Sim and if you have made it this far down the rabbit hole, you must be about as stoked as I am to have a horror platform such as Monster to fuel your gory palate. Therefore, if I can be half as entertaining and informative as folks on here, I will have served my purpose well.
As a kid, I was never permitted to watch a lot of Television. That’s why I had to fake sleep. That way, I could get up later and switch the telly on when everyone went […]
Hello readers! My name is Anthony O’Connor and I am a writer.
Recently I had the joy/honour/terror of watching a screenplay I wrote get made into a movie. That movie was Redd Inc. (aka: Inhuman Resources for you Yanks and Canadians). I kept a semi-regular diary on the set of Redd Inc. Between setups I’d scribble stuff down. Most of it was illegible, sub-par, rambling and incoherent. Occasionally it was drawings of zombies with boners.
Over the next little while I’ll be bringing you the highlights of this hastily-scrawled journal, with pictures and video for the hard of thinking. […]
As my first official blog entry (not counting the introductory one), I’d like to start things off with a film I was involved with somewhat reluctantly. So, why bring it up as the first entry? Because it’s fresh on my mind and the films I’m working on now are still in active production and I don’t feel like going through the odious process of clearing photos with actor/actress management just yet.
First a little backstory…
In the summer of 2011, I was contacted by Naoyuki Tomomatsu and asked to shoot stills for several films he was directing. Tomomatsu, if you […]
